TAKEAWAYS:
Ownership traditionally involves indicating an object's source and responsibility.
AI could help verify and preserve an object's history and source.
Changes in history and geography can complicate researching an object's origin.
A thought. Personalized ownership has long been a tradition to announce, inform, convey, and identify who or what agency the attendant article was made by, owned (legally), associated with, has responsibility for, or is legally obligated to ensure its safety and use. A statement of authorship in a simple legal form or an identifying mark easily interpreted as a source could continue a long history of assigning the true sourcing and perhaps by whom. In the world of AI, this required the sourcing of natural means or computerized means that could define the object's intrinsic value in the presence of validated sourcing.
As an example, I was gifted a wall-hanging brass candelabra. Its uniqueness was assigned only by a stamp of authenticity as to its source, a jeweler in the City of Danzig about 100 years ago in the Free State of Danzig, which no longer exists. The city's name changed to Gdansk, was behind the “Iron Curtain” from 1917 till 1990. I was born in 1940 in a seaside resort called Zoppot, 15 miles away, now Sopot, and has a history and provenance that is somewhat easy to research.
